So you just installed Photo Shop, I think we have all been there. Staring at the screen thinking to ourselves, now what? This is how I got started after being in your shoes. Not knowing where to start or how to start can be intimidating to say the least. Let me help you on your way. We all where beginners at some point. This is for the true pioneers the ones that just uploaded one of the most powerful programs there is. I see you sitting at the blank screen and asking "of Shit, Now What" Maybe this will help... Nothing fancy, Just the basic's...

Thank you all for the great resources.
I hope this comes in handy to someone. I wish I had it to refer to.
Love this I have to agree with your whole outlook regarding photomanipulations. I always thought of them like a puzzle, you just keep adding until the puzzle is finished
This is pretty neat! Thanks for sharing. I can isolate or grab things, but I have never played with the layer style pallette. It looks rather complicated. Will have a go. Finding things to use in a picture is a nightmare too and DA makes me very nervous about stock. Many folks seem to think that if they have paid for a stock image they can share it (redistribute it), but this breaches most stock agencies licencing laws. I've seen unresticted stock on the title of images here and in small print it says only to be used on DA! That means it's restricted to DA only!! And what is that about anyway? Anything I offer for photo manipulations is unrestricted in the sense you can sell your art anywhere any place any time etc. I think it's difficult for most artists to make a real living and it would be a pity to make life even more difficult than it should be.
Ooops sorry for the rant, Max. It's a great tutorial.
But yes both concepts are true.
